Accountability IRL ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Accountability IRL mobile application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
When you use Accountability IRL, we collect:
- Account information: email address, display name, age range, gender, and profile photo
- Goal content: the goals you create and their descriptions
- Messages: direct messages and chat request notes exchanged with other users
- Device information: device type, operating system, app version, and push notification token
- Usage data: actions you take within the app (e.g., goals created, requests sent) to improve the product
- Payment information: processed securely by Apple or Google — we never see your card details
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and improve the app
- Match you with accountability partners
- Send push notifications you have opted into
- Enforce our Terms of Service and safety policies
- Analyze usage patterns to build better features
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider
- Expo — push notification delivery infrastructure
- RevenueCat — subscription management (no payment card data)
- Google AdMob — advertising on the free tier (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
- Law enforcement when required by applicable law
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile content is anonymized and messages are removed. Some anonymized usage analytics may be retained for product analysis.
5. Your Rights
You can:
- Edit or delete your profile at any time from the app
- Delete your account entirely from Settings → Delete account
- Opt out of push notifications from Settings → Notification Preferences or your device settings
- Request a copy of your data by contacting us at privacy@accountabilityirl.com
6. Children's Privacy
Accountability IRL is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted transit (TLS), row-level security on our database, and token-based authentication. No system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Third-Party Links
The app may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you visit.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
